I am learning how to embrace being human again with all the imperfections that come along with that! Thank you Drew for all your invaluable insights coming from a place of truth and "been there, done that" experience.
Thank you Drew. I am loving your short messages on email. LOVING THEM. I am up and down but used to the roller coaster and no longer let it frighten me as I ride it. Better and worse and better and worse and mental and physical both hammering me. I would fly to NYC and live there in my sister's apartment if I was allowed to see you but I guess that's not residency. Some day it might be possible to see you. I long for that day while I work on but ‘don't think too hard’ about!!!!!!! things you highlight that are as if you can see me every day in this process. From the land down under with thanks some day even if a few sessions together somehow we will make it happen when I am good it shocks me how good I am. what a feeling. Jo Harrison
Well these are very kind words, but the good news is that I am definitely not the only person that can help you. So you don't have to pin hopes on sessions with me. 🙂
Drew, I have yet to come across or hear about anyone in Australia with your knowledge and understanding of the way through, especially the myths and rubbish that get pushed by those out for a buck. I will continue to greatly appreciate what you write and say because it has greatly helped to bring me back to myself, which I thought was impossible. Anyone down under you hold in high esteem I would appreciate knowing about them. Meantime thanks for everything to date and to come. Jo
Give your brain the message that something is seriously wrong with you because you are having anxiety sensations and your brain will react to that. Oh my god, this person is telling me there's something seriously wrong with them, I need to react in the only way I know how. More fear chemicals, anxiety sensations heightened and prolonged.
Give your brain the message that there is nothing seriously wrong with you when you are having anxiety sensations, it's all perfectly normal, and the added fear process is made redundant. No extra chemicals being pumped into the brain. No heightened sensations.
The vicious circle is stopped. Anxiety becomes as normal as anyone elses.
Nobody else can instruct the brain only ourselves.
Amazingly put! I have to remind myself this. Recivery jsnt linear and some days it comes back out of nowhere and it’s like my knowledge and resilience goes out of the window.
This came at the perfect time for me in the midst of a difficult internal state and if I can make it through today I'm building my capacity to ensure difficult states
Hey Drew! Thanks for sharing your thoughts on that! Do you have any advice for dealing with prolonged, all day anxiety without external trigger? And how to deal/tolerate the empty/ burn out feeling coming with that because of the exhaustion.
I can so relate to this as I have restricted my life due to internal physical feelings of anxiety:
“that the world must accommodate this strategy (which tends to have bad consequences).
An anxiety disorder is not just “having anxiety”. It’s really defined by the declaration that an anxious state is dangerous, threatening, and impossible to tolerate (then by the resulting severe lifestyle and functional restrictions that follow)
No such thing. Every state is created for a reason, mostly the actions of the prediction engine between your ears (we all have one). But if you spend all day Monday running frantically to get away from how you feel, then the "trigger" is simply ... Tuesday.

Give this one a listen. We talked about that on Disordered a while back.

is there always a trigger or what about “out of no where”
